National Television Awards: Best & Worst Dressed

Last night saw the stars of the small screen descend on London’s O2 Arena for the 18th annual National Television Awards. Hosted by the charming Dermot O’Leary, the evening saw some of my TV favourites pick up gongs, including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Downton Abbey and, of course, Ant and Dec, who won Best Entertainment Presenter(s) for the 12th year running – poor Dermot!

But of course the best part about this sparkling event is wading through the mix of outfits that were sent down the red carpet… some amazing, some absolutely terrible.

Ashley Roberts

Ashley looked beyond gorgeous in this floor-length Rachel Gilbert dress. The former Pussycat Doll outshone ex-bandmate Nicole Scherzinger, who opted for a simple black dress. Ashley let her dress do all the work, teaming it with barely-there make-up, and no jewellery.

Holly Willoughby

She rarely gets it wrong and once again Holly Willobooby looked elegant on the red carpet in this black Roland Mouret dress. The This Morning presenter’s night only got better when her show won the award for Best Daytime Television – congratulations, Holly!

Laura Whitmore

As the only celeb who dared to wear a bright colour, Laura definitely topped my Best Dressed list, in limoncello-yellow Rachel Gilbert. The retro wave in her hair and beading on the dress gave the outfit a vintage feel, which I love. Top marks for the Whitmore!

And now for the fun part… the worst dressed celebs.

Cheyenne Pidgley

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Cheyenne wore a red meringue-style dress. Unfortunately the show didn’t win any awards, and neither did this frock, despite being fairly timid compared to the dresses featured in the programme.

Sophie McShera

More Downton Abbey than red carpet

The Downton Abbey star failed to wow in this extremely plain knee-length dress, which looked more like a costume from the period drama, than a red carpet style statement. Despite the dress, Downton Abbey won Best Drama. Oh well Sophie, it’s not all about style… Who am I trying to kid?!

Lucy Mecklenburgh

Worst dressed of the night goes to Lucy

Without a doubt, Lucy’s extravagant gown was the worst to grace the red carpet. The TOWIE star was sure to turned a few heads, but for all the wrong reasons… over-glitzy, over-the-top, and what was with the seriously awkward posing? 3/10 Mecklenburgh. Back to school for you!

So who was your best & worst of the night?
